Why do we like listening to music?

Image
Do we listen to music differently in different stages of our lives?  Do we find some songs more gratifying than others in different times in our lives? Why do some songs make us feel good inside and others are just... just alright. Is it the wave frequency or is it that we relate to the lyrics? I, personally, know that I am not drawn to the words, sure it's great when the songs connect to your feelings and thoughts, but that is not my top requirement when choosing which songs I like or I should say which songs pull me in. I don't feel I choose them. They automatically get replayed and eventually given the title (at least in my head if I don't share them with anyone) that this song is goood.  My taste of music is different than what most people around me like. It is a personal thing. Most of the time I listen to music either on my earphones or in my car, sometimes there are others around me where in that case I listen to different genres usually something more upbeat. Most d...

Boys and Girls and Colors

Image
I've always hated stereotypes or how in this case one color becomes the world to a girl or boy. We smile automatically when a young girl tells you her favorite color is pink or a young boy tells you his favorite color is blue and we react with " aaaw that's so cute, you even have a blue toothpaste habibi. Your favorite color is blue ya? You're so cute" ...and the young boy reacts with a proud smile. Alright that's nice (and cute, I love kids) but why are we pushing a specific color into their thinking, or more over why is society doing this? For marketing reasons? I think nowadays its harder for a kid to discover what his favorite color is, because they probably link it to something they own or to what other kids their age like--they probably don't want to be different unless their parents taught them that its good to be unique and different. Which brings us to early peer pressure, if you think about it, even for children and toddlers. Oh poor kids! ...

Flickr

Today I created a Flickr account. Flickr has been around for a while but I never really had an interest in making an account but now with my slr I think it should motivate me to discover more things about professional photography. Also today, I read and looked at examples of photographing water droplets. Its really nice, especially when they do it with milk too. I want to do that one day but they all say it needs a lot of time and a lot of patience. So when those two come my way I will try it hopefully :) As for my Flickr account, for now I have added a few immature pictures I have taken and that I liked. You can take a look at them at:  http://www.flickr.com/photos/ayahabdin/  Still not very professional as I haven't photoshopped them in anyway nor learned half of everything I need to know about photography. I just popped them out straight from the memory stick, lowered the size of each image and uploaded them. Well alright. I hope you guys keep checki...

Vacation...or a very unorganized post

Image
I've discovered that even when you are not in the mood for a vacation, it does in up relaxing you. During my Eid break I got the chance to go to Antalya, Turkey. It was beautifully relaxing and I did end up enjoying it even though I still managed not to get enough sleep. I always say you need a vacation after a vacation. But this time I my mind got the chance to relax and it was very nice. I stayed in a suite on the ninth floor with an amazing view as you can see above. How could I not relax my mind with that? Sitting on my balcony just looking at that sea made me feel better. Watching the sail boats pass by, the ships, the yachts...it's just something that I really enjoy. I do hope in my future I will be able to have a boat of my own--something about them just fascinates me and the thought of them alone relaxes me... and that is why I have decided to paint the two canvases I have in my room with sail boats. I've been thinking for a veeery long time about what I should ...

Happiness in an Item

Image
So guess what... I'm getting an slr camera finally!! After much research and many sleepless nights lol I have decided to go with the Nikon D5100. It's funny how I'm a technology freak, where when I put my head to buying something, I get obsessed about it--that doesn't happen with me about clothing--and I consider that a good thing. Anyway, that being said, this means I can do several things that are on my mind. One being the cookbook and another being a photography portfolio and another another posting cool pics on this blog! But first I need to experiment and teach myself some lessons. So folks, I say ta ta for now but I do hope my posts get more interesting!! :D
