Why do we like listening to music?

Image
Do we listen to music differently in different stages of our lives?  Do we find some songs more gratifying than others in different times in our lives? Why do some songs make us feel good inside and others are just... just alright. Is it the wave frequency or is it that we relate to the lyrics? I, personally, know that I am not drawn to the words, sure it's great when the songs connect to your feelings and thoughts, but that is not my top requirement when choosing which songs I like or I should say which songs pull me in. I don't feel I choose them. They automatically get replayed and eventually given the title (at least in my head if I don't share them with anyone) that this song is goood.  My taste of music is different than what most people around me like. It is a personal thing. Most of the time I listen to music either on my earphones or in my car, sometimes there are others around me where in that case I listen to different genres usually something more upbeat. Most d

A designer and a pepsi can

Image
Here's what a designer did to a pepsi can....(I don't think these are real designs) I really like the pink one, its a change to the usual blue we see, at the same time its keeping pepsi's image.

What used to be a factory...

Image
Now how cool is this??!!! I would of never thought of turning a factory into a house...its so creative. The project below, The Cement Factory, is a place Ricardo Bofill discovered in 1973. The factory was part of an industrial complex from the turn of the century, comprising over 30 silos, underground galleries and huge engine rooms. Remodeling work lasted two years. The factory, abandoned and partially in ruins, was a compendium of surrealist elements—stairs that climbed up to nowhere, mighty reinforced concrete structures that sustained nothing, pieces of iron hanging in the air; in short, huge empty spaces filled nonetheless with magic. The complex stands in the midst of gardens of eucalyptus, palms, olive trees and cypresses. It also features Ricardo Bofill’s house and guest rooms. got this from: http://abduzeedo.com/amazing-cement-factory-loft-ricardo-bofill

Loud Rain

Image
It hasn't rained here in Amman in a while (like a couple of weeks), but today it did finally. I actually got a chance to take pictures (but I took them from inside my house so not that interesting but still) :) First I took pictures of the weather suddenly changing from suppper clear and cloudless to total whiteness and complete fog. The picture below is from my room, some people are building a house so they decided to be very nice people and create a new view for me by piling up their extra dirt and trash. Lucky me huh? But then it started raining woohooo :) Couldn't really get a good shot but the street was flooded and minutes later their was a stream of dirt flowing on down. Ya I just realized this is a boring post, but I like rain and especially thunder and lightening.

This giant napkin dispenser containing napkins made from the original material you find in McDonalds napkins. It is a marketing effort by the famous hamburger chain to promote the Big 'N' Juicy burger. isnt that cool? I thought this was funny :)

Animal Fur

Image
I was watching The Kardashians a few days ago and Khloe was asked to do a nude photo-shoot to be placed in a campaign against animal fur. I'm not going to show it to you cause i dont really want any naked ppl on my blog lol, but if you are interested look it up. Which I actually think is a good way to bring about a message, because it actually gets people's attention--but of course a campaign such as this one would definitely not be done in the middle east or it would have the opposite effect most probably! Anyway, the campaign was done by an organization named PETA and when she first went to them, she was obviously against the idea of posing naked. BUT then they showed her a video(s) of how they actaully get skinned. Now they didnt show that on tv but it sure got my attention! So I looked up videos on youtube and here's one. Let me say this video is for the hard hearted, otherwise dont watch it.... here is the link cause i dont know how to put in a video here f

First Blog Post

Image
So I just started making a blog, and I think it is about time to be honest. Everyday I read other people's blogs, usually they are sent to my email, and I am fascinated by them. I am subscribed to blogs related to architecture, interior design, photography, design and advertising--I think that is it--and I just love reading them. Anyway I hope I actually work on my blog, unlike my unsuccessful effort to make my own website, I think it was like two and a half years ago lol. If interested in that...its http://aa2007.wetpaint.com anyway, my aim for this one is a normal blog...I wanna take pictures or find things online that are interesting and post them here. So that's pretty much it. I'm off to sleep now, I'll work on this later. Ta Taaa
